Frequently Asked Questions

Do we really need a Wedding Videographer?

Okay, admittedly, I am cheating a bit with this first one. There hasn’t been a couple who has explicitly asked me this question…because if they are taking the step to reach out and contact me, they probably have already made their minds up. However, I do feel like this is a question passing through the minds of every newly engaged couple who is starting to think about what they want on their wedding day.

The easy answer is a resounding yes! If you don’t have one, you will very likely regret it. To read more about this, read my blog article on it right here!

What areas are you currently offering your services in?

We are currently offering full wedding videography packages and services to many areas in and around Toronto, Ontario, and the surrounding GTA. Some of these areas include, but are not limited to, Hamilton, Kitchener, London, Niagara Falls, Guelph, Peterborough, Stratford, etc.

What style of wedding film do you specialize in?

My goal is to deliver a beautiful, unique wedding film that you will want to watch over and over for years to come. The primary way I accomplish this is through using your speeches, vows, and letters as the theme and groundwork to create a cinematic and professional-looking video. I mix in music tailored to your tastes in order to set the mood.  Some couples prefer a purely romantic and more serious style, others prefer a more casual and fun theme to their video! Whatever style you prefer - my objective is that anyone watching your video will understand exactly what kind of couple you are!

What are the advantages of having two wedding videographers over just one?

To put it simply, there's less risk of missing important items from the day as we can be in two places instead of one. Also, having two cameras filming at the same time allows for some very dynamic cinematic shots that aren't possible with just one videographer. To get more details on why we think it’s worth the investment, read our blog article.

What kind of gear do you use?

Gear is something I really love…perhaps too much sometimes, to the horror of my bank account! I use a variety of cameras, including the Sony A7S3, A74, and two A73’s, all of which are fantastic full-frame mirrorless cameras that are perfect for weddings with their low-light capabilities. Also, I use Manfrotto tripods and monopods for stationary and static shots. I also have the DJI RS3 Pro Gimbal for beautiful cinematic, smooth shots anytime the camera is in motion. Additionally, I'm using a very high-quality drone in the DJI Mavic Air 2, which allows me to take some breathtaking 4K overhead shots. Lighting is also hugely important, especially at some particularly dark venues I’ve discovered in Toronto. I bring with me to every wedding at least two lights, which will enhance the cinematic look and feel of your wedding film.

Great-sounding audio is a priority for me and one of the most pertinent parts of any wedding video; it’s an aspect that I think is often overlooked but is incredibly important. That’s why I have not only great quality equipment but also backups on backups. For the bulk of my audio throughout the day, I have Tascam Portacapture X8, which captures incredibly high-quality 32-bit float audio. Additionally, I have several Tascam DR 10-Ls, which are tiny, lavalier microphones that easily hook onto the officiant and groom to produce awesome-sounding audio. I also have a tiny third backup microphone from Sony which I physically attach to the microphones throughout the day. Rest assured, your audio is safe here!

How do you get along with photographers?

I love working with photographers!

I contact the photographer ahead of time to find out what their work process looks like and what their set-up or style is for the day. By finding out this information ahead of time, we can work together as a team to get the best possible shots while not disrupting any parts of the day. Often, we can bounce ideas off each other to get quality coverage of all the important moments of your big day.

Any videographer/photographer should always prioritize the couple. The day belongs to you and should likewise be all about you and what you want for it.

When can we expect delivery of our videos?

It is a top priority for me to ensure that everything I deliver is unique and done to the absolute best of my ability. Time is needed to create the video's story, select music, color grade/correct, and creatively customize each video. Much time and thought goes into this process so that you receive the best quality I can deliver.

If a videographer promises delivery within a week or two of your wedding, I recommend caution in choosing them.  Time is needed to deliver the best quality work, and it cannot be rushed.

Having said that, delivery of every file can be expected within about four months after the wedding date. There are some exceptions to this rule (very busy work season, family emergency, etc.), but this would be communicated to every couple in advance.

How will all our files be delivered to us?

Currently, I am delivering all footage in 4K via VidFlow, a premium delivery service that allows you to download all videos for 10 years. Sharing and casting to any device is also incredibly easy and can be done with a few taps or clicks.

How many hours of video coverage do you provide on the wedding day?

In many Wedding Videography packages that you can see online, the videographer lists the total number of hours that he/she will be providing video coverage. This amount can be anywhere from 6 to 12 hours.  I don’t list a specific amount because I find it difficult to put an exact number on it since there are a few different factors that go into this.

One big factor as to why I don’t list the amount of coverage time is that for my packages; there is simply a certain amount of footage that I need to shoot. By limiting myself to an hour requirement, such as 6 or 8, I may not be able to deliver everything that is promised in the package. An example could be that if I begin coverage at 8 AM and the speeches don’t start until 7:30 PM, that’s already almost 12 hours.  A huge part of my wedding films is the audio from the day, which would include the ceremony and speeches, so I would have to ensure that I am sticking around until both of these sections are filmed and recorded in their entirety.

The short answer is that I won’t leave until I feel I have enough quality footage to build you a great high-quality Wedding Film.

How do we book you?

Please use the contact sheet and send me an email. After that, we can either arrange to meet in person for a cup of coffee or chat on the phone or Facetime if that’s easier for you!

Once we’ve done our initial meeting, I will give you a wedding videography contract to sign. Once that is signed and the retainer amount of 50% of the final cost is paid, I will consider your wedding date a lock, and we are good to go!
