"By the way...I met a really nice guy" // Intimate and Romantic Country Wedding
Kaitlin and Nico are a perfect example of how to take something discouraging—in this case, COVID restrictions—and make the best of the circumstances. I originally met with Nico and Kaitlin back in 2019, before the words “pandemic” and “wedding planning” were ever used in the same sentence. Originally planning on having a large-scale wedding in 2020, they had to move their wedding day back a year. The result? A wonderful day.
It was clear how loved they were by their family and friends, by their very emotional and heartfelt speeches. A new experience for me was the fact that it was a largely bilingual wedding, with many parts of the day being in French as well as English. This extended to the speeches, which gave me the opportunity to dust off my long-dormant French immersion skills and provide some English subtitles within the wedding film. With Nico being from France, unfortunately, not all his family and friends could attend because of the restrictions. But this didn’t stop the day from being full of celebrations, which included many breaks throughout dinner when Nico’s family burst into song.
Emotions ran high the whole day, starting in the morning with the beautiful letters and gifts that Nico and Kaitlin exchanged, to the vows they said to each other during the ceremony, and finally ending with beautiful speeches given by their family and friends.
Even though pretty much everyone and I were more than a little overheated due to it being about +35 Celsius the entire day, it was still so much fun, and it was genuinely such a delight to work and shoot for Nico and Kaitlin. Even if it wasn’t the exact day they had envisioned, it still turned out amazingly well, and I know they’ve got an extremely bright future ahead of them.
