"A Spark When We Look at Each Other" // Toronto Casa Loma Destination Wedding

Mountains, castles, horses, golfing, Toronto. I can say without a doubt that Devon and Tayah’s wedding film is far and away the most diverse and ambitious film I’ve had the privilege to shoot so far. Shot over six different days in six locations – from Casa Loma in Toronto to the Fairmont Hotel in Banff. It was so much fun to put together. The biggest challenge was figuring out how to pack all the crazy number of amazing moments into one ten-minute video.

This film was also unique because very rarely do you get the chance to say you’ve been friends with the groom for over 20 years. Not only that, but ever since I moved to Toronto at the start of 2021, I’ve seen firsthand the relationship develop and grow between Devon and Tayah, so it was extremely special to be asked to be a small part of their day.

Anyone who knows me will have heard me speak in depth – sometimes probably too much – about how I love the mountains. To quote Darrell from The Office, they’re “one of my favorite ecosystems.” So, you can imagine my excitement at being able to shoot surrounded by mountains at the Banff Fairmont. Yup, lots of looks around with that “wow, just give me a second to take this all in” expression on my face. Now to be clear, I wasn’t alone in this feeling of excitement. Getting married surrounded by mountains was Tayah’s dream, and man, did the day ever turn out great. Neither Devon nor Tayah were originally from Ontario before both decided to take the plunge and move to Toronto. There were so many different groups of people coming together from all over Canada.  It turned into such a party with so many different emotions going on. I hope their wedding film helped capture this balance of really, really funny moments and a ton of emotion. That’s what the whole day ended up being. There was lots of laughing and crying, but mostly just everyone being so, so happy for these two.

It was genuinely so exciting to see two of my best friends take the plunge, and I can’t wait to see where they go from here. All the best!
